Bihrle Applied Research Engineering Facility - Hampton, Virginia
Facility Description/Capabilities
The reconfigurable simulation facility contains a multi-use cockpit and a MetaVR PC-Based graphics system interfaced with Bihrles D-Six simulation environment as well as several networked desktop stations. The integration of these tools allows Bihrle engineers and their
customers to rapidly configure the simulation station to meet project requirements for flight models, instrumentation, engineering displays, and Heads Up Display. The multi-simulation network capability allows users to evaluate multi aircraft scenarios in a controlled environment.
The simulation facility is available to customers on a project and or hourly basis. Among the flight models hosted in the laboratory are the F-16, F/A-18C/D/E/F, AV-8B, High-Performance Turbo Prop Trainer, Business Jet, Generic Helicopter, SE5A Bi-plane, Wright-Flyer 1911 Model B,
and Twin Otter.
The Bihrle system test area located at the Hampton facility is the main development and test area for data acquisition, measurement, and customer simulation workstations. A wide variety of equipment is available to Bihrle test engineers including pressure, force and moment
measurements devices, as well as data acquisition hardware and software. Custom data acquisition services are available as are leased agreements for measurement equipment data acquisition systems.
