Complete Demonstration Models
Bihrle has provided the user with four D-Six sample projects that illustrate the range of modeling capability of the simulation software and can provide the user with structural examples for the model development. The following descriptions provide more detail of each model
provided.
- The Bizjet model is a fully representative modeling of a Learjet / Citation class commercial twin engine turbojet. This model has a full non-linear representation of the vehicle's aerodynamic characteristics for all portions of the flight regime, including flap deflection as well
as stall and post stall representation. The model coefficient components are all expressed as multi variable dependencies including angle of attack, sideslip, Mach number and control deflection. A complete thrust model is included. The model also uses body axis and wind axis dynamic
model representation for appropriate dynamic responses.
- The DC-8 model provided is an example of a more simplistic model buildup, wherein the model aerodynamic database is constructed of derivative data taken from published data. The model contains derivatives mechanized as a function of Mach number only.
- The F-30 model is an example of the mechanization of a model structure commensurate with current military aircraft. This model is uses a full non-linear mechanization of all coefficient terms, and is unstable in pitch with neutral stability in the directional axis as well. The
model includes a flight control system that provides for stabilization and angle of attack limitation. The maximum Nz limit and the angle of attack limit are user configurable. A complete thrust model is also mechanized.
- The SE5-A project is a complete representation of the British World War I fighter. This model was built from a range of test data taken and published in the Aeronautic Research Council's reports following WWI. This model has a complete non-linear coefficient build up along with a
comprehensive powerplant and propeller model. This is the only model that includes a gear model so that it can be landed and taken off as well.
The documentation of the models provided includes the aerodynamic buildup as well as a set of html plots that portrays the actual coefficient values for each aerodynamic component
