Bihrles support of flight test activities is a natural extension of their extensive experience in wind tunnel testing and simulation development. As a result, Bihrle personnel have been tasked to support flight test programs investigating the most complex aircraft behaviors.
These activities have spanned from test plan setup and planning, to establishing simulation based virtual flight test programs, enabling test pilots to concurrently evaluate the efficiency and safety of the proposed the test plan. Advanced data analysis and visualization are also
available, ranging from post test review and analysis of flight results to complete data extraction and/or simulation validation using the acquired flight data. Bihrles successful contribution to the most flight safety critical test programs has resulted in a unique appreciation
of program requirements; for example:
F-16 Modular Common Inlet Duct (MCID) Configuration Development Flight Test Support
Following a spin chute deployment during the flight testing of the new MCID configuration of the F-16, Bihrle was asked to support the analysis of the out of control motion that led to the resulting spin chute deployment, and to support the development and flight testing of
configuration and/or flight control law modifications.

X-31 Departure Flight Test Analysis and Support
During the high angle of attack portion of the X-31 flight test, the configuration experienced a departure during an 2 g maneuver at 60 angle of attack. Bihrle was tasked to analyze the flight data, and make recommendations as to the source of the departure and other unexplained post
stall behavior.

Advanced Trainer Flight Test Support
As part of the simulation development and flight test support team for one of the JPATS aircraft competitors, Bihrle supported the flight test planning and data evaluation of the program, particularly important during the required high angle of attack and spin demonstration phases of
the flight test program.
