Simulation criteria development, model validation, verification and documentation example:
AV-8B Flight Model Update Criteria and Test Procedure Development
As with most simulation development programs, the USMC AV-8B Flight Model Update program required extensive criteria development, verification and validation. To do this properly, updated test procedures and acceptance criteria were needed. Bihrle Applied Research Inc. was tasked to
with the test procedure development and criteria definition. As part of this task, Bihrle assessed existing criteria to determine what areas required improvement to represent airframe and propulsion change that have been made to the aircraft in recent years. Bihrle performed extensive
research in to potential sources of new criteria data, including flight test data, reports, maintenance test results, etc. With criteria data sources identified, Bihrle formulated an acceptance database with appropriate tolerances to be applied during final testing. These criteria data and
tolerances were reviewed with the customer and the US Navy for ultimate approval and incorporation into the overall simulation acceptance and validation effort.
